Holistic Health is an approach to optimizing life by examining the whole you. As with ancient medicine instead of focusing on specific illnesses or parts of the body, Holistic Health considers the whole person, his or her nutrition, behaviors, and relationships. As a holistic health counselor it is my goal to address not only your nutritional needs, but also your relationships, behaviors and how you interact with the world around you. It is a true bringing together of the mind and body that enables you to nurture your most energized, fulfilled, healthy life possible.
I am a Holistic Health Practitioner certified through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I have always been interested in nutrition and intrigued by the role food can play in our physical, mental, and emotional health. I love working with clients because my main objective is simply that I pass on and share knowledge. I work very closely with each client to help them understand the specific effects different foods and behaviors have on their sense of self and wellbeing. Knowledge is incredibly empowering and over a period of time my clients gain a true sense of achievement, as they understand the value of what they have learned and begin to put it to use.
I have been a vegan for several years (a choice initially made because of my love of animals). Later, I began to appreciate how closely my health and well-being were connected to the foods I eat, and a plant-based diet has provided me with optimal health. In 2012, I was diagnosed with gross hydronephrosis, a genetic disorder that required the removal one of my kidneys. I saw several doctors and surgeons over a 12-month period and the one common observation was amazement that I was asymptomatic. They all attributed it to my diet and urged me to keep on doing what I was doing!
I believe that everybody's nutritional needs and life goals are different. My ultimate aim is for my clients to gain a specific and comprehensive knowledge about the foods they are eating, in order to have the tools to make informed choices and to live a healthier, happier, balanced lives.
